Song of the week 30/11/15 – 6/12/15

After completing one of my goals this week, it got me in a good mood so this week it’s another positive song that I hope helps to inspire you in some way. This week the song is ‘The World Is Yours’ by Nas and the reason for that is the hook which is the way that I’m feeling and a way that a lot of people hopefully feel. This song has one of the smoothest beats I’ve ever heard on a hip-hop song which is great for the ears, and the song itself a lot deeper than just telling the audience that the world is theirs, as Nas makes references to plenty of things such as growing up in Queensbridge, keeping himself focused on success despite the trials of living in the ghetto, his love for his crew and how he gets money without making it the be all and end all of his purpose. Lyrically, this song is excellent (this is coming from me, who isn’t great with understanding lyrical rappers) and if you’re looking for a place to start on hip-hop then this song is a good place, while you’re at it you might as well listen to ‘Illmatic.’

Favourite line(s): The world is yours

I feel like this song is trying to tell the audience that no matter the circumstance, you can overcome the odds to make your goals a reality. Life is what you make of it, so why not try and make the most of it?

Recommendation on how/when to listen: Whenever life is beating you down and you need something to relate to. When you’re high and it’s a good buzz (for all the smokers out there!). Generally this is just a song that can start your day or end it, it’s always a good time to listen to the song.
